Bethel University Alumni Find Success with HundredX Platform

Bethel University is a private, nonprofit, four- year Christian university located in McKenzie, Tennessee, with satellite campuses located throughout the state.

The past two years have been challenging for businesses around the world — and higher education is no exception. When the pandemic hit, events were canceled, and both student and alumni engagement had to be reimagined. The alumni relations’ playbook was thrown out the window and rewritten.

But students were still looking for scholarships to help fund their higher education goals. Like many other universities across the country, Bethel University, a private, nonprofit, four-year Christian university located in McKenzie, Tennessee, was challenged to maintain the level of funding they had for their scholarship program, while creating virtual giving opportunities for their alumni.

Without scholarships, some students may have to forgo their admittance to Bethel and the alumni team did not want to cut back on their assistance to incoming students.

Dr. Kimberly Martin, Interim VP of Development and Marketing and Dr. Joshua Greer, Dean for the College of Professional Studies had heard about HundredX through a friend who worked with HundredX Causes in the past on two separate, successful scholarship campaigns.

Alumni Support without Spending

“Bethel University is so thankful for the opportunity to work with HundredX.  I knew after that initial conference call that I wanted to use this program. Because of their unique crowd-sourcing platform, we are able to provide our students with additional opportunities,” stated Dr. Greer.

“HundredX allows people to support Bethel without giving money, so it opens up new avenues for stewardship that have been harder to foster,” states Dr. Martin.  “HundredX allows people to give their time in support of our organization, but to do it at home, in their spare time, in as big or as small of a block as they can.”

The HundredX program allows individuals 18 years or older to provide valuable feedback on brands they use from any of their devices.  A single piece of feedback can be submitted in about a minute and generates up to $2 for the supporter’s cause. Each supporter can submit up to 75 pieces of feedback — which can generate up to $150 for that cause, funded by HundredX.

Participants Love to Support Without Spending

“Multiple participants commented to me about how easy and fast it was to give feedback via the HundredX platform, and we found HundredX to be simple to work with from an administrative perspective, as well.  We provided some basic information and photographs, and we quickly received social media posts and other promotional items to support our campaign,” Continued Dr. Martin. “We shared that information, and the responses started coming in immediately.  I highly recommend this platform for other organizations like ours who need to raise funds for a good cause.”

A Win-Win For Bethel University

“This was a win-win for Bethel University Alumni and students because we were able to generate funds to support student scholarships and program needs and has allowed us to bring new supporters into our fold by giving them an easy, free way to contribute to the University that fits their schedule and their budget,” stated Dr. Joshua Greer.

Sure, lattes, mochaccinos, and cappuccinos are pricey, but they taste delicious. For many consumers, the great taste of coffee shop coffee made it worth the cost. But customers at Starbucks aren't so sure the tradeoff is worth it anymore. Examining more than 420,000 pieces of feedback across the Quick, Fast, Casual (QFC) industry, including over 21,000 on Starbucks, we find: Starbuck's Purchase Intent 1,2 is down 3% over the past six months, with most of that dip occurring over the past few months. By contrast, Dunkin' Donuts has remained within a tight range over the past six months, as did an average of other, smaller coffee chains. Customers increasingly see less value in Starbucks. Starbuck's Value perception 3 fell 5% over the past six months, compared to just 1% for Dunkin' Donuts. However, it also fell 5% for the average of the smaller coffee chains. Coffee drinkers feel significantly unhappier about Starbuck's quality and taste. Starbuck's Taste perception fell 4% over the past six months, while rising 1% for competitors. Likewise, its Quality perception dipped 3% over the same time period (and 8% over the year). Ultimately, Starbuck's perceived drop in taste is leading inflation-weary consumers to say they plan to spend less at the coffee chain, as the value just isn't as good.

Ozempic once dominated the headlines, but GLP-1 competitor Mounjaro is winning over customers. GLP-1 drugs, used for treating diabetes and aiding in weight loss, are relatively new on the market yet have surged in popularity over the last year. They're becoming so popular that J.P. Morgan estimates that 30 million people in the US may be using a GLP-1 drug by 2030. This statistic presents a significant potential for early drug creator Novo Nordisk (Ozempic, Wegovy), and perhaps an even bigger one for Eli Lilly (Mounjaro, Zepbound). HundredX data indicates Eli Lilly is in a position to win over Novo Nordisk as Mounjaro's Usage Intent widens against the competition. Ozempic may have name recognition, but customers feel more positively about Mounjaro's effectiveness and lifestyle impact, even if they aren't excited about its high price. Examining 1,500 pieces of customer feedback across Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Wegovy, we find: GLP-1 users increasingly say they plan to use Mounjaro more, and Ozempic less . Mounjaro’s Usage Intent is up 19% since July, Wegovy’s is up 3%, and Ozempic has stayed within a tight range. Customers feel Mounjaro is more effective than competing drugs, but it’s harder to get . Mounjaro outperforms other GLP-1 drugs in effectiveness, lifestyle impact, and side effects. However, customers dislike its cost and availably more than competitors.
